FAQ

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions and some ANSWERS too.

How come some of your visitors get to have their picture by their name? How can I get my picture beside my comment on your site?

I’m glad you asked.  You just need to get a gravatar at http://en.gravatar.com.  A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site?

So, your gravatar will be used not just on this site but on most other WordPress blogs and many other blogs also.  You just have to use the same email for the gravatar as you do when you post a comment.  That’s how gravatar knows who you are.  It’s pretty quick and slick.  Try it out.

Just go to the gravatar site and follow the simple instructions.

Do you eat just fruit?

No, but fruit provides most of my diet.  I eat lots of green leaves also, mostly lettuce and spinach.  Cucumber and celery are good, especially fresh cucumbers from my garden!  I have corn and peas sometimes, and I don’t cook them.  I make creamed corn from frozen corn.  The frozen corn may have been blanched (not raw) but I’m not too concerned about it.

I even have a baked potato here and there, but not too often.  If my Mom wants to cook me something when I’m at her house I have some steamed broccoli or carrots.  I also have some dulse (seaweed) every day to increase my mineral intake.  Carob powder is something I eat rarely, throwing it into a banana smoothie.

Most days my diet is 100 percent fruit and green leaves (and a bit of dulse).  The dulse and green leaves I eat for nutritional purposes, but I do love the taste.  The peas and corn don’t provide anything for my body I can’t get from fruit.  I just like to eat them, and in my opinion, they are still pretty healthy.

I would like to phase away from potatoes though, they are very dehydrating.  I feel better on fruit.  Baked potatoes also take an hour to cook, which is using a lot of energy.  Fruit is ready to eat.

How much do you eat in a day?

I eat as much as I need, which is probably about 2000 to 2500 calories.  Fruit is high volume but low calorie so you get to eat a lot.

Let’s use yesterday as an example.  For breakfast I ate a head of lettuce, three mangos, and four bananas.

Then for lunch I had a small watermelon.  I say small watermelon but it was bigger than my head and many pounds.

Then for dinner I ate an entire bag of spinach, a honeydew melon, four small peaches, and four bananas.

I usually have a smoothie for one of my three meals, but yesterday I didn’t.  You could go to Nutridiary.com and figure out how many calories that was (and other nutritional info).  I’ll do that one day, but not right now.

Most people do not eat enough when they just start on a fruit based diet.  They eat an apple and a banana and then complain “This diet can’t work” because they are hungry in two hours.
